How to contribute to the idirnet shared brain.
Setup
- Install Obsidian
- Install Google Drive for Desktop
- Sign in with your idirnet Google account
- Open the synced
idirnet/contentfolder as an Obsidian vault - Enable community plugins: Templater, Dataview (optional)
Creating Notes
Quick Capture (Fleeting)
- Create a new note in
00-Inbox/ - Apply the Fleeting Note template
- Write your raw thought — don’t worry about polish
- Later, process it into a Literature or Permanent note
From a Source (Literature)
- Create a new note in
10-Literature/ - Apply the Literature Note template
- Summarize the source in your own words
- Link to related permanent notes
A Refined Idea (Permanent)
- Create a new note in
20-Permanent/ - Apply the Permanent Note template
- Write one atomic idea in your own words
- Link generously to related notes
Rules
- One idea per note — if you’re writing about two things, make two notes
- Link liberally — use
[[wikilinks]]to connect ideas - Your own words — never copy-paste from sources
- Set your author — always fill in the
authorfrontmatter field - Don’t overwrite — if you disagree with a note, create a linked response
- Process your inbox — regularly review fleeting notes and promote or archive them
Publishing
Notes with publish: true in frontmatter appear on the public website. Set publish: false for drafts or private notes.
